The Rural Museums Network exists to bring museums of
farming and the countryside closer together for mutual benefit. It extends
across England and includes also the national collections of Wales,
Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Network is promoting collaborative
efforts between the member museums to tackle jointly the issues and
challenges that they share. It is reaching out to collectors and related
societies and organisations beyond the museum circle. It is providing
a means to publicise rural museums and the work they do more widely.
This site contains news, views and information about the Network and
the museums involved. The Rural Museum Network has been initiated by
the Museum of English Rural Life at the University of Reading with funding
support from Resource (The Council for Museums, Archives and Libraries)
through the Designation Challenge fund.
